Color Restoration
for the love of color
Our in-studio color restoration artist will work carefully to color correct your florals to their original appearance as close as possible, bringing back the vibrancy and richness to your florals similar to the day of your event, while also eliminating translucent spots, known as bruising, that can appear once resin makes contact. Bruising occurs from the wear the flowers undergo during the event and is not visible in fresh or dried florals. It only appears during the resin process, which means it won’t be visible if you elect to see an artwork mockup. Color restoration can only be done prior to the resin process; once the resin process begins, there is no turning back.
Our professional drying process preserves a variety of colors, however not all colors can be maintained - this, simply, is nature and completely out of our control. For example, some florals darken and some lose their color. Red flowers tend to dry very dark, while white flowers often dry light yellow, to list a few examples. Some florals will change color once they make contact with resin, including color corrected florals, thus resulting in a different appearance than the design mockup.
We love nature and appreciate the changes florals undergo throughout the preservation process, but we also love seeing flowers look as they did on the day of your event - we don’t think you can go wrong either way and the choice is entirely up to your personal preference!

• Color restoration helps to eliminate the sometimes unwanted surprises the resin process brings out, such as bruising (translucent patches).
• Color restoration can be applied to revive the color and vibrancy of your original bouquet.
• Color restoration will only be applied to the Bouquet Preservation Artwork. Add-on keepsakes (those listed in Step 2 of the Shop page) will not be color corrected.
• Not all flowers can be color corrected. Some flowers, such as ranunculus, lisianthus, stock, sweet peas and scabiosa are too sensitive to handle the restoration process. You can always let us know which flowers will be in your bouquet so we can tell you if they are a good candidate for color restoration. We only offer the color restoration service for fresh bouquets that we dry in our studio.
• Florals you’ll definitely want to have color corrected include most tropical plants, such as anthuriums, orchids and monstera leaves, and other florals such as zinnias and coffee cherries.
• Florals you might want to have color corrected include white roses, blush roses, anemones, zinnias and gardenias. These flowers tend to show bruising and slight browning, while gardenias turn yellow. Most flowers in the red or magenta family, especially roses, dry very dark to near-black and color correction is the only way to bring them back to their original hue. Flowers with prominently visible stamens will dye surrounding areas with the color of their pollen, usually yellow or red, and so you might want to have those types of flowers color corrected, such as lilies.
• We use permanent conservation-quality pigment to paint individual flowers by hand in order to restore color and vibrancy without damaging your flowers.
• You can wait to order the color restoration service until after you see the design mockup of your dried florals.

• For clients who would prefer their florals look more like they did on the day of the event, rather than how they might naturally change and show signs of wear.
• For clients who don’t like surprises.
